Preparing promotional materials for a single-family housing development does not always require a large number of visualizations. Often, a much better result comes from focusing on a few carefully considered views that show key features and establish the development's character.
This case study presents a small single-family housing development whose visualization scope was limited to essential presentation materials.
Does a development need a dozen or more visualizations?
Not always.
Creating a complete 3D development scene allows many different views, lighting schemes, times of day and night and videos to be produced. However, how these materials are used depends largely on the client and their promotional vision.
Our aim and the client's wish were to show the entire development optimally in a minimum number of views.
Two good views showing the building
The development consists of over a dozen identical buildings on plots of different sizes. We decided to present one building from 2 directions to show its form.
The first view from the street uses atmospheric evening lighting.
The second view shows the rear of the building and an example garden layout.
At this stage, the buildings were presented attractively, but potential buyers still lacked an overview of building locations, roads, recreation areas and so on. We decided to use aerial views for this.
An aerial view shows what cannot be seen at eye level
An aerial view quickly explains the whole development: building positions, internal road routes, plot sizes, parking, gardens and relationships between individual houses.
For potential customers, this is often much clearer than analyzing a site development plan.
For a small development, a set comprising two attractive architectural visualizations and one aerial view of the entire development can therefore convey most information needed at the first sales stage.
The LITE package as a starting point
This approach also comes from our client experience.
We encourage you to explore our page about architectural visualizations for real estate developers and architects.
Very often, a real estate developer does not initially need a dozen or more renders. They primarily need a few good materials to launch the development website, start publishing listings or prepare initial advertisements.
That is why our architectural visualization pricing includes a LITE package with two exterior visualizations.
The 3D development model can be reused
Although larger packageswe offer include favorable discounts on complete sets of renders, animations, product sheets and so on, there is no need to buy a whole set in advance. This is particularly true if you initially have no plan for using these materials or want to limit costs. You can develop the presentation as the sales campaign progresses and needs grow, then order additional views, interior visualizations and animations later.
Fewer visualizations, better planned
In summary, an effective development presentation does not require a large render count.
For smaller developments, it is often better to invest in two carefully chosen views showing the architecture's character and an additional view showing the whole development's layout, rather than a series of very similar visualizations.
A well-planned set should primarily answer two questions prospective buyers have: what my house will look like and what the whole place where I will live will look like.
The number and type of visualizations should be selected with these questions in mind.
FAQ
frequently asked questions
1. How many visualizations are needed to promote a single-family housing development?
There is no universal number. For a small development, it is often enough to have 2–3 carefully chosen visualizations: one or two building views and an aerial view showing the whole layout.
2. Is it worth preparing development visualizations at different times of day?
Yes, if this shows the development differently. A daytime view presents the architecture and materials well, while an evening visualization can highlight lighting, atmosphere and character.
3. Can more visualizations be prepared after the initial set?
Yes. The prepared 3D model can later be used for additional views, aerial views, animations, floor plans or other marketing materials without recreating the project from scratch.
