We will remember 2020 mainly for the Covid-19 pandemic, remote working and… the release of Cyberpunk 🙂 It was also a challenging year in which we completed many exciting projects. We will be able to show some soon. Follow our social media, particularly Instagram.
In September, we celebrated the first birthday of our workstation GPU Tytan. Alongside our projects, Tytan contributed computing power to the Folding at Home scientific initiative. You can learn about FaH in an accessible way on the Uwaga! Naukowy Bełkot YouTube channel.
We have fully moved to a 10Gbit LAN, accelerating access to materials on our servers. Workstations also received the fastest currently available PCIe SSDs, providing over 11 times the transfer speeds of our previous SSDs. For additional hardware protection, we bought powerful UPS units from GreenCellthat can maintain power for several hours during an outage, even under full rendering load.
We returned to 3D printing. For years, we used a printer from the now-defunct IdeaLab One. We switched to a slightly smaller, quieter Tiertime UP! 2 Mini, which fully meets our 3D printing needs with stable, precise ABS and PLA prints.
We improved office ergonomics by moving, literally, to extremely comfortable Ergohuman Plus chairs from Grospol. Recommended 🙂
Finally, news from Poland. December 10 saw CD Projekt RED release Cyberpunk. No Polish production had previously reached this scale or been discussed so widely worldwide. Everything suggests RED met the weight of expectations. Despite technical problems, particularly on PlayStation 4, Cyberpunk 2077 looks fantastic and sets standards for years ahead. In story and graphics, a masterpiece. Perhaps nobody has summed it up better than Roj: link to the review. Another instalment in the Cyberpunk universe and a Witcher sequel have also been announced.
