We recently prepared a set of furniture renders on a white background for our client. They included different types of beds, bedside tables and chests of drawers. All the furniture was made from natural wood and finished with exceptional care. Our task was to faithfully reproduce both the wood grain and upholstery details, making the visualizations as realistic as possible.
How are furniture packshot visualizations created?
We begin the packshot visualization process with precise 3D modelling of the furniture based on photographs, technical drawings or manufacturer documentation. We then work on textures and materials, which must convey every nuance, from wood grain and varnish sheen to fabric softness. Next comes appropriate lighting and rendering to achieve the effect of a product standing against a white background.
This produces materials ideally suited to catalogues, online shops and distributor offerings. Importantly, once a 3D model is prepared, it can be reused, for example in furniture visualizations in interior settings, as well as in CGI animations or short promotional materials in the form of Reels, Shorts, TikTok.
What are packshots used for?
Packshots are an integral part of online sales. They help customers examine the product and make a buying decision. They also underpin marketing materials, providing a simple way to show a piece of furniture's details, shape and finish.
In practice, packshots are particularly useful in:
e-commerce : online shops need clean product views,
printed and online catalogues,
advertising materials and sales presentations,
online auctions and sales platforms.
How much do furniture and product packshots cost?
The cost of a packshot depends on the complexity of the product geometry and finishing materials. Quotations are always individual: simple forms have different requirements from furniture with rich decoration or complex fabrics. However, 3D packshots can be ordered from PLN 60 each, making them a much cheaper and more flexible alternative to traditional photo shoots.
Which products can be visualized as packshots?
Although we focused on furniture in this project, packshots work in many industries. They can present, for example:
consumer electronics and domestic appliances,
personal electronic devices,
packaging, such as cosmetics, food and drinks,
sports equipment,
interior accessories such as lamps, decorations and textiles,
and even entire product visualizationsthat require a simple, neutral background.
With 3D renders, there is no need to organise an expensive photo shoot. A digital scene is enough, and we can modify and develop it repeatedly.
What next?
Packshots are one of several formats we prepare as part of our furniture visualizations for manufacturers.
Creating packshots is just the beginning. Once furniture or other products have ready 3D geometry, we can easily use it in further projects. The same model can be used to prepare visualizations in interior settings, create smooth CGI animations presenting the product in motion, or produce short, attractive promotional materials such as Reels or Shorts. An investment in packshots therefore opens up broad marketing possibilities, from online sales and catalogues to social media campaigns.
